What’s Holding You Back From Your Best Life?
Are you a responsible, goal-oriented professional who is stressed out and teetering on the edge of burnout? Despite your level of education or success, does it feel like you’re not in charge of your life the way you could—or should be?
Perhaps you’ve overcome difficult obstacles, like trauma or painful circumstances early in your life, and though you’ve managed to prevail and achieve great things, it still seems like you’re living in survival mode.
Or maybe everything looks good on paper, but you don’t feel like you are thriving, and you’re hoping that coaching can help you finally achieve the life of your dreams.
Even With Success, Happiness Can Be Elusive
Most mornings, you likely wake up tired and preoccupied with getting the family going and ready for their day. You spend hours pouring yourself into a demanding career to be a good provider—only to find that you’re irritable and over-reactive, which causes problems in relationships.
When you get home, you spend all your time managing household responsibilities, being a loving partner, and taking care of everyone else but yourself. Essentially, all you do is go go go. And even though you may worry about your mental and physical well-being, carving out a moment for self-care probably feels impossible.
However, there is a way to reclaim your sanity and take control of your life. With my help as a life coach and ally, you can learn to calm your body, find greater peace of mind, and finally become the captain of your own ship.
Stress Creates Numerous Obstacles That Hold People Back
According to a press release from the American Psychological Association (APA), a whopping 76 percent of Americans say that their well-being had been negatively impacted by stress in the past month.* Additionally, 32 percent of employees reported feeling emotionally exhausted from their jobs.**
What leads to so many people feeling unfulfilled in their personal and professional lives?
- Toxic politics and a deep concern for the future of our country
- Self-limiting beliefs, fear of taking risks, lack of support
- Distractions/habits that keep people stuck (gaming, internet, pornography)
- Not eating correctly, poor sleep hygiene, alcohol/substance use
- Avoidance of boundary setting, not being able to say “No” to others
When people try to make a change, they often lack specific skills or don’t have any way to hold themselves accountable for reaching their goals. Sometimes, fear and uncertainty get in the way of progress. Other times, people don’t even know what makes them happy, which is where life coaching can be so useful.
Working with a life coach puts someone in your corner who can help you navigate those obstacles and find answers to questions that are ultimately holding you back. It gives you an ally who will support you, encourage you, and hold you accountable for prioritizing healing and self-growth in your life.
Life Coaching Focuses On Personal And Professional Growth
Whereas counseling may focus on the past and resolving old thoughts and feelings that keep people stuck, coaching is about dealing with life in the moment and building steps toward the future. It’s an opportunity to discover what makes you happy while developing skills that will allow you to heal, grow, and create positive change.
As a certified life coach and psychotherapist, I specialize in helping individuals who seek to uplevel their lives, maximize their efforts, and improve things all around. I love seeing people overcome bad habits and adopt more skillful behaviors, responses, and ways of communicating.
What Can You Expect From Our Life Coaching Sessions?
For possibly the first time ever, the sole focus will be on you: what you want and what you need to get there. We’ll clarify your true values, plan exactly what you want in the next chapter of your life, and execute the steps to make that a reality.
Because our own thoughts can keep us stuck, going in circles, I also think it’s important to learn how to calm the body, quiet the mind, and address things in a controlled way. That’s why life coaching frequently involves mindfulness skills, exploration and discussion, and “homework” (e.g., journaling, writing assignments, or worksheets) for putting priorities and goals in order.
Stress also holds people back by making them afraid to take a leap of faith, so I always collaborate on a personalized self-change program with all my clients. We can work on:
- Anger Management: Getting what you want without alienating the people you care about
- Healthy Boundaries and Communication Skills
- Replacing Bad Habits with Helpful Ones
- Saying “No” to what you don’t want
- Extreme stress management
- Living, Loving, and Working Mindfully
- Making bold, creative business and career choices
If you’re like many of my clients and got off to a rough start in life, personal coaching is also a great way to manage residual, stress-related health issues. Whether it’s TMJ, imposter syndrome, Chronic Pain, or Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), I believe my services dovetail seamlessly with these challenges as well.
My goal is to help you create a life where you feel calmer, more stable, and in control of yourself and your relationships. That way, you can move from merely surviving to thriving.
Is Life Coaching A Structured Process?
I believe that self-exploration, change, and personal and professional growth are processes that should evolve organically, which is why I don’t offer a cookie-cutter approach to life coaching. That said, there are a few tools that lend themselves well to what I do:
- Internal Family Systems Coaching involves picking an intention or a situation that you want to improve, and then working with the parts of yourself or your reactions that get in the way of taking action toward that goal. IFS-based life coaching is a way to work through obstacles, change habits, and manage stress and burnout.
- Acceptance and Commitment-Based Coaching is a mindfulness-focused approach that helps clarify both your values and goals. At the same time, it frees you from thoughts and behaviors that keep you from moving toward where you want to be.
- Mindfulness-Based Life Coaching is about being present in the moment without judgment. That’s useful because it enables you to identify what you are doing that’s not working, and it frees you from repetitive thoughts, behaviors, and other negative life patterns that keep you hooked and stuck.
Together, you and I can collaborate on creating a life that is the right balance for you—a life where there is room for you, your wishes, dreams, and desires. I want to help you discover a way to stay competitive with yourself while still setting healthy boundaries, reducing stress, and engaging in skillful, compassionate communication with others.
With my help as a life coach, I believe you can build a future that supports the highest level of health and well-being for you mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
Perhaps You’re Considering Life Coaching But Still Have Some Concerns…I don’t have time to work with a life coach.
One of the biggest obstacles to having a healthier, more satisfying life is prioritizing the time needed to make positive changes. Maybe that is where we can start? Instead of going in circles, unable to make decisions or progress on your own, why not let me offer you some clarity, support, and tools that will save you some time and frustration in the long run?
I can’t afford a life coach.
The truth is that many of us prioritize time, money, and personal ambitions over self-care, but we simply cannot perform at our best when we are hung up on something. Unfortunately, many of us feel ashamed or guilty for prioritizing ourselves, so we find excuses not to ask for help.
However, working with a life coach is one of the best ways to realize your potential—and that is invaluable.
I know what I need to do; I just need to do it myself.
I respect your desire to course-correct on your own, but taking advantage of all the support options available is extremely wise. Some of us join group exercise classes for extra accountability—and others use study buddies to stay on task.
In the same way, life coaching offers you support, encouragement, and insight that you may not otherwise have access to. And that can make all the difference.
